The past year has seen many hot springs in Oregon closed due to wildfires and the coronavirus. Thankfully, most of them are now accessible just in time for the summer season.
That being said, there are two public hot springs that are both closed this summer and through the rest of 2021. Both Bagby Hot Springs and Umpqua Hot Springs are under forest service closure orders due to access road and surrounding area wildfire damage.
While Cougar Hot Springs is open, the easier access route is currently closed due to a rockslide. The longer, southern access route via Westfir is open.
If this summer is anything like the last one, wildfire closures could hit many national forest hot springs by mid-July. Another good reason to get out now!
